Exception Requests

The purpose of the exception request is to determine if a product qualifies for an exception from the university’s EIT Accessibility Policy.

Limited exceptions may be granted in specific instances where compliance is not possible or would constitute undue administrative or financial burdens or where it would create a fundamental alteration. Exception requests may be submitted when a product purchase has been denied.

Product Information

Name of the product you are requesting an exception for.

A short description to explain the nature of your request.

Describe the academic or business purpose of the technology. Please be specific.

Why is an exception needed? Explain why accessibility compliance is not feasible.

List comparable products and why they were not chosen.

Equal Access Planning

The following set of questions will help you be prepared to assist students in a timely manner if an issue with digital accessibility limits access to or use of the software application or content.

Are there any known accessibility issues in the system or process? Describe potential barriers.

Name and title of UB faculty or staff responsible for providing equal access accommodations.

Describe in detail how the responsible faculty or staff will provide equal access accommodations.

Describe how you will communicate the availability of equal access accommodations.
