Body

UBIT vs. Law IT

While both UBIT and Law IT provide technology services to the University at Buffalo community, their roles are different. UBIT delivers the university's enterprise technology infrastructure and centrally managed services, while Law IT provides direct technology support and services for specific School of Law systems and facilities. Law IT also serves as a liaison to UBIT and other university service providers when assistance is needed with centrally managed systems.

UBIT (Central IT) Law IT (School of Law)
Provides technology services for the entire University at Buffalo. Provides technology support specifically for the School of Law.
Manages enterprise platforms such as Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, Zoom, UB Learns, VPN, Wi-Fi, and identity management. Supports School of Law-specific applications such as the SIP, Interspire, and Examplify, and oversees the evaluation, procurement, deployment, and support of new departmental software and productivity solutions.
Maintains university-wide infrastructure, networking, security, software licensing, telecommunications, and cloud services. Maintains School of Law technologies including classroom technology, network, instructional technology, printing, digital signage and law-specific computing resources.
Supports all UB schools, departments, and administrative units. Supports the academic, administrative, research, and experiential learning needs of the School of Law.
Operates the UBIT Help Center and enterprise support services. Operates the Law IT Support Portal, live support services, and O'Brian technology initiatives.
