Description
All software requested for use by University at Buffalo (UB) personnel must undergo a formal evaluation process. This requirement applies regardless of whether the software or service is free or intended for a limited audience. Each request must be reviewed by the Software and Web-based Services Review Team to evaluate the technology’s effectiveness, efficiency, security, and accessibility. This review ensures alignment with UB’s mission, strategic goals, standards, and institutional policies.
The procurement of software is a complex and time-intensive process. If there is a foreseeable need for new software, it is strongly recommended that requests be submitted several months in advance. This lead time allows for the completion of the required evaluation process and accommodates any subsequent actions that may be necessary on the part of the vendor or the law school.
This form is also for maintaining existing software installations through re-installation, upgrades or license renewals.
Software support and troubleshooting should be submitted through a separate form.
