Exception Email Account Creation

Description

Exception UBmail accounts are email accounts not linked to an individual’s UBIT name. These accounts are typically used for administrative functions that should be associated with a department, group, or event rather than a specific person. Multiple individuals may be designated as delegates, granting them authorization to send and receive messages on behalf of the account.

The UB Active Directory (AD) accounts associated with these exception email accounts can also serve as exception users. This allows individuals who do not have, or should not have, access to standard UB-licensed applications to be provisioned appropriately. These applications include:

  • UB Box – Provides network file storage and access tied to the department, group, or event.
  • Zoom – Enables hosting or joining meetings using the exception account.
  • Microsoft Teams – Supports instant messaging and OneDrive file sharing associated with the group or department.
  • Microsoft Office (Web-Only) – Grants access to web-based Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint via office.com.
